What's the Difference Between PHP and IOP?
Both programs meet Monday through Friday and include group therapy, nervous system regulation practices, and lunch. The difference is in hours and intensity.
Partial Hospitalization (PHP) is the higher level of care. It runs 9:30am–2:30pm and is designed for people who need more intensive daily support to stabilize.
Intensive Outpatient (IOP) runs 9:30am–12:30pm and is a strong fit for people who need more than once-a-week therapy but are ready for a lighter structure — or who are stepping down from PHP.
Both PHP and IOP clients participate in groups together. IOP clients complete their day at lunch; PHP clients continue into the afternoon.
